AIM OF NCC (National Cadet Corps):
The aim of the NCC is to develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and ideals of selfless service among young citizens.
It also aims to create a pool of organized, trained and motivated youth to provide leadership in all walks of life and serve the nation with dedication.
Additionally, NCC aims to motivate young people to join the Armed Forces and contribute to national defense.

Unity – stands for the common bond of patriotism, teamwork and understanding among all communities and regions of India.
Discipline – represents the importance of self-control, obedience and order in life.
The motto “Unity and Discipline” was adopted in 1957 and reflects the core values of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
CORE VALUES OF NCC:
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) aims to instill the following core values among its cadets:
- Love and Respect for the Nation to develop a deep sense of patriotism and pride in being an Indian.
- Upholding the Constitution to respect and follow the ideals enshrined in the Indian Constitution.
- Respect for Diversity to promote unity by respecting all religions, languages and cultures of India.
- Discipline and Selfless Service to live a disciplined life and work for the welfare of others without selfish motives.

SELECTION PROCESS IN NCC
The selection process for joining NCC and for further camps or higher training includes the following stages:
1. Enrollment Process
Conducted in schools, colleges and universities where NCC units are established.
Students must apply through their institution’s NCC officer (ANO).
Selection is generally based on:
- Physical fitness
- Discipline and conduct
- Interest in NCC activities
- Basic interview by the NCC Officer
2. Physical Fitness Test
- Basic physical fitness and stamina are assessed.
- Activities may include running, push-ups, sit-ups and other endurance exercises.
3. Medical Fitness
- Candidate must be medically fit as per NCC standards.
4. Interview/Screening
- Short interview or personality test by the Commanding Officer/ANO to check motivation, communication and leadership potential.
